A large, bowl-shaped storage basket from elephant grass, with handles made from leather offcuts. Holds throw blankets, toys, laundry, or firewood.

A handwoven Bolga basket ringed with jewel-toned bands, cool and warm shades stepping around the body in a checked pattern between natural straw edges. Tightly coiled walls keep the round shape steady when it’s full.

This basket has scuffed leather on the handles with all imperfections clearly shown in the photos. The price has been adjusted accordingly.

Hamper basket woven in Bolgatanga

This hamper basket was woven in Bolgatanga, Upper East Region of Ghana, by a Frafra weaver who started at the centre of the base and built outward to the full width of the bowl.
The elephant grass (veta vera) grows on the White Volta flood plains, and every strand is split and twisted before weaving, which is what lets a basket this wide hold its shape.
