African market baskets are hand-woven by skilled artisans in Bolgatanga, Ghana using durable, sustainably harvested elephant grass.
Each basket is made using traditional weaving techniques passed down through generations, which means no two baskets are exactly the same.

African market baskets are designed for carrying and everyday use, with a structured shape and sturdy handles that make them easy to hold or carry over the shoulder. They’re typically deeper and more open at the top than storage-focused basket styles.

Other carry options include shoulder Bolga bags, oval Bolga baskets, and Mega wawa baskets, all handwoven and designed for everyday use.

Our market baskets are available with standard handles, long handles, or in a mini market size, and can be woven in either an open weave or a closed weave, depending on the design and level of spacing between fibres.

You can choose your basket in two ways. With Colour of Your Choice, you select your preferred colour tones and we choose a basket to match, or choose from individually named baskets, where each piece is shown on its own and you receive the exact basket pictured.

Woven market baskets are packed to help maintain their shape in transit and are shipped from Australia. Shipping costs and delivery timeframes are calculated at checkout based on your location and order size. We offer free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $90.
