Mega Wawa baskets are large, oblong Bolga baskets, handwoven in the Bolgatanga region of Northern Ghana from elephant grass.
They’re known for extra-fine, double weaving, a detailed technique that takes serious skill and experience, shown in the smooth, even finish.
Like all handmade Bolga baskets, small variations in shape and size are part of what makes every Mega Wawa basket its own unique piece.

You can choose your basket in two ways. With Colour of Your Choice, you select your preferred colour tones and we choose a basket to match, or choose from individually named baskets, where each piece is shown on its own and you receive the exact basket pictured.

Mega Wawa baskets are the most spacious carry style in our Bolga range. They’re oblong, with extra-fine, double weaving (a tighter, more detailed weave) that takes serious skill to keep consistent. You get generous space, fine detail, and a basket that earns its keep day after day.

Round Bolga baskets are the closest match in overall feel. They have the same practical carry purpose, just in a round profile instead of the elongated Mega Wawa shape.

Large and XL are simply the bigger sizes within the round basket style. If you like the round shape, these are the most direct alternative to a Mega Wawa.

Oval Bolga baskets have a narrower oval shape and are slimmer overall.
Mega Wawa baskets have a roomier body and that refined double-woven finish.

Double weaving is a skilled Bolga technique where the basket is built with an extra layer of weaving through the body. It creates a tighter, more detailed finish, and it takes time and steady technique to keep the weave consistent from start to finish.
