Hand carved from a solid piece of timber, Songye shields were once an important part of a warrior’s protection and identity. The craftsmanship and symbolism seen in these traditional shields can also be found throughout our collection of African masks and hand carved African statues, where storytelling and cultural identity remain deeply connected to each piece. Similar carving traditions are also reflected in our Dogon doors, celebrated for their intricate detail and historical significance.
