These extra-large Bolga baskets are hand-woven from the elephant grass which grows in the rich flood plains of the White Volta near the village of Bolgatanga, Northern Ghana.
They’re equipped with durable leather handles and are perfect for shopping, in the garden, around the home or just sitting pretty.

Meet our weaver, Adampoda Seboka:
“Basket weaving has always been part of my family tradition. My parents and siblings were all weavers, and I learned the craft from my mother. When I was younger, I wasn’t eager to weave, but I often helped my mom dye straw, so I picked up some skills along the way.

At the age of fifteen, when I didn’t have a job, I decided to give basket weaving a try. I had wanted to learn cloth weaving, but I couldn’t afford the materials needed as an apprentice. Basket weaving became my only option, and now I don’t regret choosing it. Since I already knew how to select and dye good straw from helping my mother, I had a strong start.

My favourite to weave is the extra large round basket—I love working on those!
Over time, I’ve shared my skills with others, teaching my sisters-in-law how to weave, and now passing the craft on to my children. While weaving isn’t my only source of income—I’m also a seasonal farmer during the rainy season—it remains a big part of my life.
I enjoy listening to local Fra Fra music while I work; it keeps me entertained and motivated.”
