Small Pet Basket – Cutie

Bolga pet baskets from Frafra weavers in Bolgatanga

Bolga pet baskets are hand-coiled from elephant grass (veta vera) by Frafra weavers in Bolgatanga, Ghana.
A single weaver coils the basket from base to rim into its open oval shape, so the proportions and pattern vary slightly from one basket to the next.

FAQs

Does a Bolga pet basket come with a cushion?
Bolga pet baskets come as the woven basket alone, so you can line one with your pet’s own cushion, bed, or blanket.
A lining softens the elephant grass base for long sleeps and can be lifted out for washing. Bashiri’s Sahel blankets are one option for lining the basket.

Are the dyes on the pet basket safe for pets?
These pet baskets use the same dyes as Bashiri’s baby and kids Bolga baskets, which are free from harmful chemicals. The natural dye goes into the elephant grass before weaving, so the colour runs through the fibre rather than coating the surface.

Which size Pet basket suits my cat or dog?
Small Bolga pet baskets suit cats, puppies and small dogs. Large baskets suit medium to large dogs, and XL and XXL baskets give big dogs room to stretch out.
Width and height differ a little between weavers, so compare the measurements listed for each basket.
