Moses Baby Carry Basket – Whisper

FAQs

What is a Moses basket?
A Moses basket is a handwoven basket with two handles, used as a portable bassinet for a newborn. It gives a baby a small, contained spot to rest, that can be lifted and carried between rooms.
Bashiri’s are woven from elephant grass in Bolgatanga, Northern Ghana.

How long can a baby use a Moses basket?
A baby can use a Moses basket from birth to around six months, or 9kg, whichever comes first. After that, the basket moves on to holding toys, linen, or keepsakes.
For the next stage, Bashiri also carries baby change baskets with leather or elephant grass handles.

Are Bashiri’s Moses baskets safe for a newborn?
Bashiri’s Moses baskets are made for a newborn to rest in under supervision, and to be carried short distances, and should be used in line with the Moses basket safety guidelines.
The dye used on this basket is free from harmful chemicals.
A custom-fitted foam mattress can be added for the base.

Does the Moses basket come with a mattress?
A foam mattress is an optional add-on, custom-fitted to the base of the basket. The basket ships with its two folding leather-wrapped handles, and sizing and the handle ring vary slightly from basket to basket, since every one is woven individually.
