Description

Our laundry baskets are hand-woven from the elephant grass which grows in the rich flood plains of the white volta near Bolgatanga, Northern Ghana. These washing baskets are some of our most popular items.

Meet our weaver, Ayindo Abewba:
“My father taught me how to weave; he was the only parent I had. We depended on the money from weaving.
I am also part of a group of drummers, we play for people to dance at local ceremonies.
I stay home and weave when there is no ceremony.
Basket weaving has changed my life, it is my handicraft job and the only thing my dad left me when he passed on.
Whenever I get paid for weaving, I remember my dad and thank him for teaching me. May his soul rest in perfect peace”.
