This smaller version of the market basket is used for short trips, carrying lunch, or picking up a few groceries without needing a full-size basket.
It fits items like a water bottle, wallet, keys, sunglasses, or fruit, without feeling oversized.
FAQs
How is a mini market basket made?
Mini market baskets are hand-coiled from elephant grass (veta vera) harvested from the White Volta flood plains around Bolgatanga. The grass is split, rolled by hand, and dyed before weaving, so the colour runs through the fibre rather than coating the surface. One weaver makes the whole basket, using the same process behind the full African Bolga Baskets range.
How does the mini basket compare with a full-size market basket?
The mini basket keeps the tapered, upright shape and leather-wrapped handles of the Classic African market basket, woven from the same elephant grass at a smaller scale.
