This handwoven bag has a flap in deep, warm tones flecked with natural grass, over warm striped bands and an open lattice row through the body. The flap fastens at the front with a leather toggle finished with a tassel.

About our mini Bolga shoulder bags

Elephant grass (veta vera) grows on the White Volta flood plains near Bolgatanga, Ghana, and it’s harvested in the dry season. Frafra weavers split and roll each length by hand, which gives the weave its fine, even texture. The grass is soaked to soften it and dyed before weaving, so the natural colour runs right through the fibre.
The finished bag is light on the shoulder and flexible, with a weave firm enough to keep its shape.
