Bolga Pack – Round Duo: Natural

About the due round baskets

These two baskets come from Bolgatanga, in the Upper East of Ghana, where Bashiri has worked directly with the same Frafra weavers.
Each basket is woven from elephant grass cut from the White Volta flood plains.

The grass is dried, then split lengthways and twisted into a two-ply strand, which is what gives the weave its strength and the close, even pattern you can see across both sizes.

The weaver shapes the base first and builds the walls up from there, tightening the rim by hand before the handle is bound in leather.
No two woven baskets are identical.
Width, depth and the exact tone of the straw shift with the grass and the hand that wove it.
