A round Bolga basket is a deep, bowl-shaped basket with a single arched handle, handwoven from elephant grass by Frafra weavers in Bolgatanga, northern Ghana. Each one is made by a single weaver who splits, twists, and weaves the dried grass by hand over three days to a week depending on the size.
The rounded, open body is what suits it to carrying and holding, from a market shop to storage around the home.
Round Bolga baskets come in four sizes: small at 20 to 29cm, medium at 29 to 36cm, large at 36 to 42cm, and extra large from 42.5cm up.
Leather and vegan handle options run across the range, with the extra large finished in leather.
Colours range from natural straw to bright, hand-dyed tones, with a unicolour range in the small and large sizes.
