Medium Bolga baskets suit a small market shop, general storage, and holding everyday odds and ends, fruit in the kitchen, or a potted plant.
At 29 to 36cm across, they are the size that is roomy enough to be useful while staying light to carry by the handle.
Each basket is hand-woven from elephant grass by Frafra weavers in Bolgatanga, northern Ghana.

Round Bolga baskets come in four sizes.
Small Bolga baskets run 20 to 29cm for a shelf or small everyday items, medium is 29 to 36cm for a small market shop or general use.
Large Bolga baskets are around 36 to 42cm for laundry, blankets, picnics or groceries, and extra large baskets are 42.5cm and up, roomier for even bigger loads.

Medium round Bolga baskets range from natural straw and earthy tones to deep, hand-dyed colours and bold multicolour designs, taking in everything from soft violets to woodland hues or vivid bright tones.
The dye is boiled into the split grass before weaving, so the colour runs deep through each strand and holds over years of use.
Each basket is finished with a leather or vegan handle.

Bolga baskets are made from elephant grass, a fast-growing crop cultivated on the flood plains around Bolgatanga and harvested each season. Each basket is woven entirely by hand with no machinery, and the leather trim on the handle is made from off-cuts left over from other leatherwork.
