FAQs

Our textiles range spans both raw fabric and finished pieces.
On the fabric side, we carry African wax print cotton in 100% fine cotton and cotton-blend options from Ghana, hand-dyed indigo cotton from Burkina Faso, and 100% cotton mudcloth from Mali in four sizes, from small decorative pieces through to large statement lengths.
The finished pieces include Sahel blankets and African woven mats.
Everything is hand-selected directly from markets and artisan collectives across West Africa.

Mudcloth, known in Mali as Bogolan or Bògòlanfini, is made by weaving narrow strips of cotton on traditional looms, then dyeing the cloth with fermented river mud and plant-based tannins.
The mud bonds with the treated cotton to fix the characteristic earthy tones, and the symbolic geometric patterns are revealed once the excess mud is washed away. Because every stage is done by hand, no two pieces are identical in pattern weight, tone, or texture.

Yes. Our African wax print cotton and batik fabrics both suit garments, quilting, cushions, and soft furnishings.
The cotton weight is consistent with standard dressmaking fabric.
The wax-resist dyeing process used in batik gives finished pieces a natural colour variation that works equally well in clothing and home decor.
We recommend a cold hand wash before cutting to set the natural dyes.
Our 100% fine cotton wax print is the better choice for garments and anything worn next to skin, while the cotton-blend holds up well for cushions, furnishings, and wall-based applications.

Fabric lengths are carefully rolled to protect the print. All fabrics are shipped from Australia.
Shipping costs and delivery timeframes are calculated at checkout based on your location and order size.
We offer free shipping Australia-wide for orders over $90.
