African market baskets are handwoven shopping baskets from Bolgatanga, northern Ghana, woven from elephant grass.
They’re one of the most recognised forms of Bolga weaving: a structured carrying basket with leather handles, built to hold a full load and still look the part.
The leather is sustainable offcut hide, wrapped by specialist leather workers over a grass core.
