FAQs

Bolga bicycle baskets are handwoven by artisans in the Bolgatanga region of Northern Ghana, using elephant grass and natural materials.
The weaving technique creates sturdy, durable baskets that attach securely to your bike while carrying your essentials.

What sets them apart:

  • Hand-crafted construction using traditional weaving methods
  • Natural, sustainable materials built to last
  • Easy bike attachment for secure storage
  • Unique artisan charm – no two baskets are identical

Natural variations: Because these are handmade, slight differences in shape, size, and weave pattern make each basket one-of-a-kind. This is part of their authentic, artisan quality.

How to choose:

  • Colour of Your Choice – select your preferred color tones and we’ll match you with a basket
  • Individual named baskets – browse baskets listed separately by name, each with its own photos, and receive the exact basket shown

All Bolga bicycle baskets come with leather straps for easy attachment. Simply loop the straps through the basket handles and around your handlebars, then tighten securely. The leather is sturdy enough for daily cycling but easy to adjust or remove when needed. Installation takes just a few minutes – no special tools required. The straps work with most standard bike handlebars.

Bolga bicycle baskets can safely carry 3-5 kg.
They’re ideal for everyday items like groceries, books, a small bag, or picnic supplies.
The handwoven construction is sturdy for regular use.
Avoid overloading – the natural materials are durable but not designed for heavy loads like large water bottles or dense cargo.

All of our Bolga baskets are packed to help maintain their shape in transit and are shipped from Australia.
