The Shekere Gourd Shaker

The shekere is one of our personal favourites!

A central feature of traditional Ghanaian music, these are so fun to play, suitable for all ages and available in a variety of sizes and colours.

The calabash is a dried gourd which is hollowed, cleaned and threaded with small beads to create the net which produces sound as it hits the gourd. They produce crisp or sandy effects to depending on how they’re played.

As these are made from natural gourds there is a natural variation in sizing, from mini to jumbo!
