About our woven oval basket

Bolga oval baskets are made from elephant grass in Northern Ghana, finished with leather handles cut from sustainably sourced offcuts.
Oval baskets complement narrower spaces and sit neatly where a round basket won’t – beside the couch, along a hallway wall, or in a room corner.

Who weaves your baskets?
Each basket is woven in Bolgatanga, Northern Ghana, by a Frafra weaver working from elephant grass grown on the White Volta flood plains. Weaving is a family and community craft, and new weavers learn over years of practice alongside people already doing the work.

Each basket is made by one person from start to finish, and that work supports livelihoods within the weaving communities.
Small differences in shape and finish are part of that process, since every basket is handwoven rather than machine-made.
