Description
The Ashanti Golden Stool is a favourite world wide.
The legend goes that a golden stool descended from the sky in the 17th century, representing an earthly seat of power divined by the spirits.
It became a symbol of the unification of the Ashanti, embodying the soul of the nation. It is a symbol of unity, power and peace.
Each stool is made from a single block of the wood of Alstonia boonei (a tall forest tree with numinous associations) and carved with a crescent-shaped seat, flat base and complex support structure.
