HEALING EXPRESSIONS

SOUND HEALING WITH Ceremonial Gongs

Healing Expressions: With a strike we are brightly awakened by ripples of harmonious vibration through the air.

Ceremonial gongs invite our body, mind and spirit to dance in harmonious bliss. While the sound waves wash over, we are reminded of our gentle spirit waiting to be heard. Practitioners believe certain frequencies can focus on specific areas of the body, contributing to the healing of certain ailments.

Ceremonial gongs tune into specific chakra points on the body. As different notes are created by striking different points on the gong – the more its surface is activated, resulting in the whole surface loudly resonating with many layers of reverberation. Recent research shows that gong baths reduce stress and tension and in turn increase blood circulation. This helps bring down our blood pressure and improve our overall mood.

You will find gongs with warmer and deeper resonance assist in healing the lower chakras. For example, we can balance and ground the root and sacral chakras with the deeper tones of a gong.

If you’re drawn to steel resonance, take a look at the handpans (hang drum inspired) over at African Drumming for sound demos and tunings.

With this in mind, higher resounding frequencies aid in balancing the solar plexus, the heart chakra and the third eye and crown chakras. This is why it is often advised, if we want to target specific chakras, we must choose a gong based on its tonal frequencies.
