These are the masks of the Ngil: the judiciary association which unites the Fang tribes of Cameroon, Guinea and Gabon. They represent justice, embodying wise ancestors. They are worn during ceremonies as peacekeepers, and are also occasionally serve a policing role when sentences are handed down.
